HPR ROV picks up major prize at Subsea Expo Awards

Aberdeen subsea robotics specialist HPR has been named Small Company of the Year at this year’s Subsea Expo Awards, with the firm crediting its onshore and offshore teams for helping drive rapid growth over the past 12 months.

Managing director Jan Stander said the company was “immensely proud” to have picked up the award, describing it as a major recognition for the people behind the business.

“From onshore management to the offshore delivery teams, every individual at HPR plays a vital role in solving complex client challenges and delivering an exceptional service, day in and day out,” Mr Stander said.

The company’s success has been built on “challenging the norm”, helping reduce operations and maintenance (O&M) costs across the subsea sector, supporting major operators with critical emergency response services, and expanding internationally.

“Through all the hard work of our team, the business has doubled in size over the last 12 months - a clear reflection of the value HPR is delivering across offshore wind, decommissioning, drilling, and oil and gas,” Mr Stander said.

Over the past year, HPR has doubled its turnover, rebranded, expanded its fleet, and relocated to the Aberdeen Energy Transition Zone.

Best known for its work supporting oil and gas clients including Shell, Wood and EnQuest, the company is now increasing its footprint in offshore wind.

HPR recently supported delivery activity on the Dogger Bank offshore wind project, which is expected to power up to six million homes.

The firm said its robotics technology recently delivered live footage of the operation to land subsea power cables, connecting the project to shore through tunnels drilled beneath the beach.
