Subsea technologies to be explored during Brazil trade mission

UK firms are being invited to take part in a trade mission to Brazil which will showcase new innovations in subsea technology.

Trade body Subsea UK is leading the delegation to Rio de Janeiro next month, enabling firms to share expertise with the Brazil’s energy sector.

The three-day mission will include meetings with major organisations such as Petrobras, Subsea 7 and Equinor, as well as site visits with established Brazilian contractors through the Department for International Trade (DIT).

Now in its seventh year, the trip comes as part of the UK government’s strategy to double British exports by 2020.

Subsea UK chief executive Neil Gordon said: “As a DIT Trade Challenge Partner, Subsea UK continues to build international relationships, focusing on international business, exports and events.

“Previous missions to Brazil have been very successful and have resulted in promising business leads and opportunities for the companies involved.”

The event will include the chance to present prodcts and capabilities to an audience in Rio de Janeiro.

Jim Hewson of Freudenberg Oil and Gas Technologies, attended last year’s trade mission.

He said: “The Brazil trade mission allowed us to gain a valuable insight into the workings of a complex country via a variety of mechanisms.

“Freudenberg had a piece of technology that we thought would be well suited to operations down in Rio and therefore it gave us a great opportunity to show our capabilities as a service provider.

“This trade mission is beneficial for small, independent service companies like Freudenberg. It provided a very cost-effective way of looking at a country and to assess whether you should be doing business there.”

The ‘UK and Brazil: Partners in Energy’ mission will take place from 03 – 05 June in Rio de Janeiro.

Closing date for registering interest is Monday 13th May.
