NRG Well Management aiming for step change in upstream business

Energy services firm NRG Well Management, of Aberdeen, said it was making a “step change in approach” to its offshore business as it unveiled a new director.

The Cults-based company revealed it had appointed John Verling to head up business development and new ventures.

A well-known figure in the industry, Mr Verling has more than 35 years’ experience in oil and gas globally.

He has had operational, and business and commercial development roles with companies including Schlumberger, Halliburton and ADTI/Transocean.

He was most recently vice-president of business development and sales at LR Senergy.

NRG Well Management said his “wealth of expertise”, both in the UK and internationally, especially in West Africa, the Middle East, south-east Asia and US, meant he was “ideally placed” to help expand its business.

The newly created role will hand Mr Verling responsibility for global business development strategies, focusing on growing the firm’s presence in international oil and gas markets.

Managing director Daniel Mackay said “I’m looking forward to working with John – he has notable business development experience and a proven track record.

“I can’t wait to see the new opportunities and growth he can help bring to NRG.”

NRG Well Management is one of two companies making up the NRG Group, with the other being NRG Well Examination. Last year, the group’s founder and majority shareholder, Andrew Mackay, handed the management reins to his son, Daniel, and daughter, Erica.
