KCA Deutag wins contracts worth £135m in Russia

Oil and gas industry contractor KCA Deutag (KCAD) has clinched a trio of new contracts worth about £135 million for land drilling work in Russia.

The deals are for eight land rigs, seven of which were built by Bentec, KCAD’s rig and oilfield equipment manufacturer.

Under the first contract, which is with an existing client, five of those rigs will carry out drilling operations in two fields in Eastern Siberia.

Each rig will drill for between three and four years.

The next contract is for two 1500 HP Cluster Slider rigs, which will drill in Northern Russia.

It is an extension to an existing agreement and will run until the end of 2021.

KCAD has also won a new contract for one of its 2000 HP land rigs to drill four wells in Southern Russia.

This has an estimated duration of five months per well.

Simon Drew, president of KCAD’s land drilling business, said: “Our fleet in Russia continues to see high utilisation and we are delighted that clients are recognising the high quality of our services and strong performance by awarding us these contracts in what continues to be a tough market.”
