Drilling and engineering contractor KCA Deutag has been handed an extension to its contract with CNOOC Petroleum Europe in the UK North Sea.

Aberdeen-headquartered KCA Deutag provides drilling operations and maintenance services on the Scott platform, about 115 miles north-east of Aberdeen.

The contract extension came into effect on March 1, 2019, lasting an initial four years, with a two-year extension option included.

Rune Lorentzen, president of offshore at KCA, said: “The UK North Sea continues to be an important area of activity for us and we are committed to working with our partners to ensure that we make the most of the substantial reserves we still have in the UK basin.

“We have been the drilling contractor on the Scott platform since 1992 and are delighted with the commitment to retain us once again.”
